In a very limited period of time, SRT has grown from inauguration in 1997 to an independent company representing through its shareholding no less than two large civil engineering contracting firms, thirteen large civil engineering consulting firms and three commercial laboratories. The shareholders with directors on the board are : Murray and Roberts (Much), Jeffares and Green, Africon, Grinaker/LTA and Soilco Materials Investigations whilst Civilab and Steward Scott International have small shareholdings
The pavement surveillance testing is run from the SRT-North offices at Kempton Park in Gauteng, while the bitumen and asphalt laboratory, operated by SRT-East, is situated in the Durban area in KwaZulu-Natal.
SRT-North has been certified to comply with the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 (Certificate number LS3197 - Sep 2003), while SRT-East has been accredited to comply with the requirements of ISO 17025 covering specific tests (Certificate number TO226 - Sep 2003).
Our laboratory has recently moved to new premises in Westmead, and is at the present moment in temporary voluntary suspension. We hope to be back on the SANAS accreditation by end February 2010.
The Quality Management Systems which are applied, puts SRT in a position to continue to provide quality service to our clients. The implementation of the structured continuous educational/training programme will ensure that technology is well understood and applied correctly.
Members of SRT’s staff who were previously disadvantaged have earned their positions in the management structure and are contributing to the well being of the company. SRT is working towards a staff make-up representative of the country’s technical workforce.
The equipment which is shown in this brochure includes the latest additions, but does not cover the complete range, SRT has at its disposal for road surveillance or to do the normal tests on bitumen and asphalt for design and control purposes.
SRT was formed to ensure that the latest available technology and high tech equipment, used in obtaining information for pavement management systems and the design of asphalt pavements, is available in the country.
SRT has to ensure profitability in order to sustain investment in cutting edge technology.
